David Rittenhouse Porter Ball enlisted in the 12th US Infantry and served for 
the length of the Civil War.  He is listed on the 1890 Veterans Schedule and 
his death is recorded on the list of people who died in 1905 in Clearfield, 
PA.  He was in the regular Army but five (5) other brothers were PA 
Volunteers.  The only brothr to lose his life was George who was in the Navy 
and died at Fort Fisher, NC.
