A Brilliant Wedding at Curwensville, Pa., Yesterday. A brilliant social event which occurred in Curwensville, Clearfield county, Wednesday, was the marriage of Mr. George B. Daugherty, of this city, and Miss Maude Cole, daughter of Mrs. Sarah A. Cole, of Curwensville. The ceremony took place in the Methodist Episcopal church, at high noon, the Rev. D. H. Shields, officiating. The beautiful church was rendered still more pleasant to the eye by being handsomely decorated. A portion of the front part of the edifice was reserved for the relatives and other invited friends of the contracting parties. The remainder of the pews were opened to the general public and when the ceremony began there was a large company present to witness the impressive scene. The partition between the reserved pews and the others was marked by a handsome floral gate, composed of roses, smilax, lilies, etc., and during the marriage ceremony the two who were taking the solemn vows stood under an exquisite floral bell. Promptly at noon the wedding party entered the church and marched down the aisle to the straids [sic] of Mendelssohn's Wedding March as played by Mr. Harry Draucker, of Curwensville. The ushers who [sic] were Messrs. Jack L. Draucker and Frank Arnold, of Curwensville, Roy Fleming, of Latrobe, and F. A. Darby, Lewis F. Daugherty and J. C. Kinch of Altoona. The groom's best man was Mr. J. R. King, of this city, and with the bride was Mr. W. R. Gamble, also of Altoona. On reaching the pulpit and taking their places the impressive words of the marriage ceremony were spoken. At the conclusion a reception was tendered at the residence of the bride's mother which was very largely attended, and at which a very elegant collation was served to the assembled guests. The presents received were very handsome and were many. The floral decorations at the church and house were arranged by Myers & Bro. of Altoona. On fast line the same evening Mr. and Mrs. Daugherty arrived in Altoona and this morning will journey east to Washington, Baltimore and Philadelphia on their bridal tour. Mr. Daugherty is a young man having many friends in Altoona. At one time he represented the Second ward in common council and late was chief of police, resigning the latter position some five months ago. The bride is a charming young lady, a former resident of this city, where she has hosts of friends. The TRIBUNE hopes their married life may be one of unalloyed happiness and prosperity.
