Lay, widow of the late Samuel H. Lay, for many years chief powder [sic] engineer at the plant of the Lock Haven Electric Light and Power company, died last Friday noon, February, 14, of heart failure at her home, 106 North Jay street, Lock Haven. She had been in failing health since last September. Mrs. Lay lived in Lock Haven for many years and was a member of the Trinity M. E. church and the Woman's Relief corps. She served as secretary for a number of years in the W.R.C, retiring of ill health. Four children survive: B. Kirk, of 1711 Thirteenth street, this city; Mrs. Thomas Reed, of Plainfield, N.J. and Anna and Martha, at home. The funeral took place last Monday at the late home at 10 o'clock, followed by interment in Highland cemetery. Altoona Tribune, Saturday, February 22, 1919, page 14
