When the Juniata canal was made he and his brother James drove the line of stages that ran between Millerstown and Duncan's Island. The old line of stages at that time represented rapid transit - what the railroad expresses do to-day - and they ran night and day. Mr. Patterson was elected county commissioner of Perry county in 1846, and a director of the poor in 1871. Altoona Tribune, March 7, 1889
