Sarah's friends here all think she was made purposely for a minister's wife. The Presbyterian Minister thinks he would not have alowed any one but a Minister to have taken her. I trust they have a happy and useful life before them. It is pleasant to see people get in the right place to begin with. There are so many Round people trying to fit themselves to square holes. Most any one but Carrie and Dewey would think they had a hard pull. I am not shure if they think so or not. One thing is certain they are going to pull through all right. And I believe when they do get through all right they will have sense enough to enjoy it. I believe if I could have settled down to farm life when you first left Pa. I would have had less head ache fever grey hair and more money to day. But it was not in me. Exactly what was in me I have never found out. Remember us to your father it seems but a short time since he was in Pa. and told me he thought I had married a very pretty girl. By the way I think she is right good looking yet. When I was in New York two or three months ago there was something about the people which made me think I was getting back into York State again. New York is most to big a town for me. I can stand Philadelphia first rate but New York is to thick. I supose you will be down to the Centennial then you can make us a visit. I think we will go as I hardly expect to be here for the next one. -A traveling agent just left and I have lost the thread of this thing, so I'll stop. I don't see how I came to write so long a letter. Yours Respt., W.O. Holmes This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/pafiles/ File size: 2.2 Kb
