Harper, dec’d. to Robert Harper Recorded Aug. 18th, 1848 Wm. M. Laughlin, Recorder This Indenture made the fifteenth day of August 1848 between Wm. Kerr, Theo’s. Harper, Administrators, and Mary Harper, Administratrix of the Estate of John Mc. Harper, late of Vernon Township, Crawford County & Commonwealth of Penna. deceased, of the one part & Robert Harper of the second part. Whereas the said John Mc. Harper was in his lifetime seized in his demenses as the fee in the land hereinafter mentioned and being so thereof seized died intestate not having a personal estate sufficient to discharge the debts owing by and against him, For which cause upon the application of the said Wm. Kerr, Theo’s. Harper & Mary an order was granted them by the Orphans Court of Crawford County to make sale of a certain piece of land, supposed to contain ten acres or thereabouts in pursuance of which order, Wm. Kerr, Theo’s. Harper & Mary on the 12th day of August 1848, after due notice did sell the same to Robert Harper for the sum of $105 which sale was confirmed the 18th Augt. 1848. Now This Indenture Witnesseth that the said Wm., Theo’s. & Mary in consideration of the premises and of the sum of money aforesaid hath granted, bargained, and sold, & by these presents doth grant, bargain, & sell to be party of the second part his heirs and assigns a certain Eight & a half acres of land bounded and described as follows viz. beginning at where the road leading from Meadville to Harmonsburg crosses the west line of the original tract, thence South forty four perches to an oak the original corner, thence East sixty two perches to where the road from Meadville to Harmonsburg crosses said line, thence along said road seventy five and a half perches to the place of beginning. To have and to hold the same to him the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns forever for which right and interest as he the said John Mc. Harper in and to the same at immediately preceding his decease. Witness the hands and seals of the said parties the day and year first above written. Wm. Kerr (Seal) Theo. Kerr, Theophilus Harper and Mary Harper and acknowledged the above indenture to be their act and deed. Witness my hand this 18th day of August 1848. Samuel Douds, J. P.
