Beatty, Recorder This Indenture Made the twenty eighth day of January, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty two Between David Harper and Mary his wife, of the Township of Vernon, County of Crawford, and State of Pennsylvania, of the first part, and David Harper, Jr., of the Township County and State aforesaid of the second part. Witnesseth, that the said parties of the first part, for and in consideration of the sum of twelve hundred Dollars, lawful money of the United States, to them in hand paid by the said party of the second part, at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, Have granted, bargained, sold, assigned, released and confirmed, and by these presents Do grant, bargain, sell, assign, release and confirm, to the said party of the second part, his heirs and assigns, all that certain piece or parcel of land, situate, lying and being in the Township of Vernon in the County of Crawford and State of Pennsylvania, bounded and described as follows, to wit: Beginning at a post the North East corner of land formerly conveyed by party of the first part to Robert and David Harper Jr., thence West by land of Robert Harper, one hundred and sixty-four perches to a post, thence North by land of Thomas Stockton, one hundred and nine perches, and two tenths of a perch to a post, thence by land of William and John Brackenridge North eighty-nine and a half degrees East one hundred and sixty-four perches to a post and stone, thence South by land of John Mc. Harper, one hundred and eleven perches to the place of beginning, containing one hundred and six acres of land and allowance of six per cent for road, &c., be the same more or less, being part of a tract of land, purchased by the party of the first part from William Dick, by Deed dated the 7th day of September A.D. 1801, and Recorded in the Office for Recording Deeds &c. in Crawford County Deed Book A page 209 and 10 on the seventh day of September A.D. 1801, reference thereunto had more fully appears. Together with all and singular the hereditaments and premises thereunto belonging and the reversion and remainders, rents, issues and profits thereof To have and to hold all and singular the said piece or parcel of land, hereditaments and premises hereby granted and conveyed, with the appurtenances to the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns, to the use of the said party of the second part, his heirs and assigns forever. And the said parties of the first part and their heirs, all and singular the above granted and described piece or parcel of land, hereditaments and premises, with the appurtenances, to the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns against the said parties of the first part and their heirs, and against all and every person or persons lawfully claiming or to claim the same or any part thereof shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents. Before me the Subscriber, a Justice of the Peace for said county, personally appeared David Harper and Mary his wife, the grantors above named, and acknowledged the above written Indenture to be their act and deed, and desired that the same might be recorded as such. She the said Mary being of lawful age, by me examined separate and apart from her said husband and the contents of the said Indenture having been first made fully known to her, declared that she did of her own free will and accord sign, seal, and as her act and deed deliver the same without compulsion or coercion of or from her said husband. In testimony whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty-eighth day of January 1842.
