McLaughlin, Recorder This Indenture made the sixteenth day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty eight Between Abraham Lafevre of Hayfield Township, Crawford County, Penna. & Rebecca his wife of the first part and David Harper of Vernon Township, same county of the second part, Witnesseth that the said parties of the first part, for an in consideration of the sum of Two Thousand Dollars lawful money of the United States, to them in hand paid by the said party of the second part at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, Have granted, bargained, sold, assigned, released and confirmed, and by these presents Do grant, bargain, sell, assign, release and confirm to the said party of the second part, his heirs and assigns, all that certain piece or parcel of land, situate, lying and being in the Township of Hayfield in the County of Crawford & state of Pennsylvania Bounded & described as follows viz. Beginning at a post the South West corner of the whole tract No. 33, Thence by Lot No. 32 North seventy eight & two tenth perches to a post, Thence East by residue of said Tract No. 33 two hundred & seventeen perches to a post, Thence by Michael Shoups place South seventy eight & two tenth perches to a post, and Thence West by Lot No. 37 Two Hundred & seventeen perches to the place of beginning containing one Hundred acres & eight perches be the same more or less (Being the same piece of land conveyed by deed to the grantor from John Smeltzer's heirs dated April 17 1840 & recorded in deed book U, 370) excepting thereout Three acres & Twelve perches conveyed to E. Whipple recorded in [dark area unreadable] pages 300 & 301, also excepting thereout one acre conveyed to Stillman Kelley by deed recorded in deed book W pages 359 & 360. Together with all and singular the hereditaments and appurtenances thereunto belonging and the reversions and remainders, rents, issues and profits thereof, To Have and To Hold all and singular the said piece or parcel of land, hereditaments and premises hereby granted and conveyed with the appurtenances to the said party of the second part, his heirs and assigns, to the use of the said party of the second part, his heirs and assigns forever. And the said parties of the first part and their heirs, all and singular the above granted and described piece or parcel of land, hereditaments and premises, with the appurtenances, to the said party of the second part, his heirs and assigns, against them the said parties of the first part and their heirs and against all and every person or persons lawfully claiming or to claim the same or any part thereof, shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents. Sealed and delivered in presence of Eliab Skeel Edmund Grubb Crawford County, SS. Before me the subscriber a Justice of the Peace in & for said county personally appeared Abraham Lefevre & Rebecca his wife the grantors above named and acknowledged the above written Indenture to be their act and deed and desired that the same might be recorded as such. She the said Rebecca being of lawful age by me examined separate and apart from her said husband, and the contents of the said Indenture having been first made fully known to her, declared that she did of her own free will and accord sign, seal and as her act and deed deliver the same without compulsion or coercion of or from her said husband.
