Witnesseth That the said David Mead and Jennet his wife for and in consideration of the sum of Two Hundred Dollars lawful money of Pennsylvania, to them in hand paid by te said Adam Stewart at the time of the execution hereof, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained, sold, released and confirmed and by These presents doth grant bargain sell release and confirm unto the said Adam Stewart his heirs and assigns All that certain part of Two Tracts of Land (the one called "Switzerland" and the other "Batavia" Situate on the west side of French Creek in now Crawford County. Beginning at a Sugar tree the north east corner of the aforesaid Tract called Switzerland thence south along the same tract one hundred and six perches & five tenths of a perch to a Birch thence west three hundred and twenty perches to a post, thence north two hundred and thirteen perches to a Maple tree and post thence east three hundred and twenty perches to a post, thence south one hundred and six perches and five tenths of a perch to the place of Beginning Containing Four hundred acres & one hundred and forty four perches & allowance of six pr. cent for Roads &c Bounded on the west by Land surveyed in the name of John Williams and others (Being the same or part of the same two tracts of Land {called "Switzerland" and "Batavia"} Which the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania by their Letters Patents under the Hand of the Honorable Thomas McKean Governor of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the great Seals of the said Commonwealth dated the fourteenth day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and one granted unto David Mead Esquire as by the said Patents inrolled in the Rolls Office in Patent Book 36, page 285 the 17th April 1801, may more fully and at large appear) Together also with all and singular the Buildings Improvements Ways Woods Waters Watercourses Rights Members Liberties Priviledges Hereditaments and appurtenances whatsoever thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining and the Reversions Remainders Rents Issues and Profits thereof and also all the Estate Right Title Interest Property claim and demand whatsoever of them the said David Mead and Jennet his wife as well at Law as in Equity of in to and out of the same. To Have and to Hold the said described Tract or parcel of land so as aforesaid described together with all and singular the Hereditaments and premises hereby granted or mentioned or intended to be granted with the appurtenances to the said Adam Stewart his heirs and assigns to and for his and their own proper use and behoof forever. And the said David Mead & Jennet his Wife and their Heirs all and singular the premises hereby granted or mentioned or intended to be granted with the appurtenances unto the said Adam Stewart his heirs and assigns against them the said David Mead & Jennet his wife and their heirs and against all other person or persons whatsoever lawfully claiming or to claim the same whall and Will Warrant and forever defend by these Presents. In Witness whereof the said parties have interchangeable set their hands and seals hereunto dated the day and year first above written. David Mead (seal) Sealed & delivered in Presence of us. Jennet Mead (seal) Note, the words "Trace" between the sixth & seventh lines, and the words "Granted unto David Mead Esquire" betwn the 13th & 14th lines being first interlined. John Andrews, W. Additional Comments: Crawford County, ss Before me the Subscriber one of the Associate Judges of the Court of Common Pleas in and for the said County personally appeared David Mead Esq. & Jennet his wife who acknowledged the above Indenture to be their Act and deed for the purposes therein mentioned (she the said Jennet having by me been examined separately and apart from her said husband) and desired that the same be recorded according to Law.
