(page 4) Crawford County, State of Pennsylvania I Jane Wright widow of Aaron Wright deceased certify that this is a certificate of the marriage of the said Aaron Wright to (Jane Canady) the maiden name of Jane Wright. January 29th, 1839 Jane (her X mark) Wright. Sworn before me this day above named. John N. Work (page 5) State of Pennsylvania, Crawford County: On this 28th day of January A.D. 1839 personally appeared before the subscriber and judge of the Court of Common Pleas for the county of Crawford ____ Jane Wright a resident of Crawford County aforesaid aged 82 yeras who being first duly sworn according to the law upon her oath make the following delcaration in order to obtain the benefit of the provision made by the act of Congress passed July 7, 1838, entitled "An Act granting half pay and pension to certain widows: That she is the widow of Aaron Wright who was a private and Lieutenant in the Army of the Revolution and commence the service in Northumberland Pennsylvania under Capt. Lowdon in June seventeen hundred & seventy five and continued in the service until July seventeen hundred & seventy six when received a discharge which is now lost. He afterward to wit on the 17th day of August 1782, was on a campaign against the Indians and was absent until the 15th day of Jan. 1785. It is the impression of petitioner that her husband the aforesaid Aaron Wright served another tour of duty but owing to the infirmity of petitioner she is unable to specify either dates or under whom he served, but refers to the rolls of the department & the ____ hereunto annexed & the manuscript journal accompaning (sic) this application which is in Aaron Wright's own hand writing. She further declares that she was married to the said Aaron Wright on the 5th day of May A.D. 1778, that her husband the aforesaid Aaron Wright died on the twentieth day of November in the year one thousand eight hundred & sixteen, that she does not remember whether she was married before the last term of service but the marriage took plac previous to the first of January, seventeen hundred and ninety four, viz: at the time above stated. Work Crawford County, State of Pennsylvania} I further certify that owing to bodily infirmity the above named applicant is not abot to appear in open court witness this 28th day of January 1839. Madam: In response to your letter of the 17th instant, you are advised that on April 19, 1923, you were furnished the history of the Revolutionary War pension claim Widow File 2894, of Jane and Aaron Wright. The diary of said soldier referred to by you, is not on file in this Bureau. Said book is quoted on pages 17 and 27, of volume 10, of the Second Series of the Pennsylvania Archives, which was published in 1880, and on said page 27 the reference indicates that the diary was published in the New York Historical Magazine of 1862. This would make it appear that the diary was withdrawn from the files of the Bureau prior to 1862, and it is not0 know where it is at present, or what was the mannner of its withdrawal.
