First I do allow my body to be decently buried at the discretion of my after named Executors and that my Funeral expenses and all my lawful debts be fully paid. As to what worldly substance I may be possessed of I give and dispose of in the following manner, I do give and allow to my beloved wife Martha her choice of my horses and two cows to be kept on the place The use of the dwelling House during widowhood or while she chuses for to reside with the Family thereon and a share to equal with one of my Daughters As after mentioned. I do allow two horses two cows and twelve sheep the wagons, plow and horse geers and harrow to be reserved for the use of the place so long as my Executors may judge the same beneficial. The profits of the place after the widow's support or so much thereof as may be necessary to be applied to the support and schooling of my children, until they come of age. As my children come of age the boys at twenty one and the girls at eighteen they may draw their respective shares of my personal property in the proposition after mentioned when my youngest child shall be of age or sooner if my widow and Executors shall judge it most for the benefit of the Family I do allow and hereby empower my Executors or a majority of them for to sell and convey my real property either in whole or in part in as full and ample a manner as I myself could have done and it my will and I do hereby ordain that my property personal as well as real be divided amongst all my children in the following proportion my sons to inherit two shares my Daughters one. The child that my wife is pregnant with if a boy to share with the boys if a Girl to share with the Girls. Further I do allow to my beloved wife in addition to what is before mentioned the one half of the Household furniture for her own proper use and that my Executors may reserve so much of the remainder as an appraisement as may be needful for the Family. Also I do allow that grain and everything necessary for the support of the Family until the next Harvest is in be retained without any appraisement. Also unto my Daughter Nancy Maria I give my Gold Watch additional to her other share. Unto my son Samuel Samuel Hanna my English watch in like manner. The books to be reserved for the use of the Family. And Lastly I to hereby ordain and constitute and appoint my beloved wife Martha Executrix and my cousin Doctor William Sharp of Newville and my trusty friend Thomas Wallace son of Patrick Wallace to be the Executors of this my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have hereto set my hand and seal this twenty fifth day of February one thousand eight hundred and twenty three. Signed sealed published and pronounced by the said John Sharp as his last will and testament in presence of James Laird, Samuel McDowl, James Wallace Cumberland County Ss. Before me Frederick Sterrett, Register for the probates of wills and granting letters of administration in and for Cumberland County personally came James Laird Esq Samuel McDowl & James Wallace the subscribing witness to the within will and being duly sworn according to law, depose and say that they saw and heard James Sharp the Testator sign, seal, publish, pronounce and declare the within Instrument of writing as and for his last will and testament that at the time of so Doing he was of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding To the best of their knowledge observation and belief that they signed their names […] at the request Of the Testator in his presence of each other. Sworn and subscribed March 3 1823 Before me F. Sharretts Esq James Laird Samuel McDowl James Wallace […] that on the 5th day of March 1823 the Last Will and Testament of James Sharp deceased was legally proven, and Letters Testamentary issued same day to the Executors in the same will named. Inventory and account to be executed in the time appointed by law. Witness my hand F. Sharretts, Regr. Martha Sharp swore before me this twentieth day of June 1825 Jacob Handel Regr.
