HISTORY OF CUMBERLAND COUNTY. PENNSYLVANIA. CHAPTER XL. BOROUGH OF SHIPPENSBURG. 442 BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCHES: J. D. BASHORE, dentist, Shippensburg, was born in Franklin County, Penn., October 25, 1859, son of Emanuel and Elizabeth (Rebuck) Bashore, natives of Pennsylvania, and of German descent. Emanuel Bashore was a tanner by occupation for nearly forty years, and still resides in Franklin County, Penn. Of his five children Dr. J. D. is the youngest. Our subject was reared on the farm, and received his schooling in Franklin County, Penn. At the age of nineteen years he commenced the study of dentistry, and afterward attended the Baltimore College of Dental Surgery, where he graduated in 1880, and the same year he commenced the practice of his profession in Shippensburg, where he has met with marked success. He was married, in 1883, to Madge L. Hartley, and they have one child, E. Gorgas. The Doctor and wife are members of the Reformed Church in Shippensburg, of the Sunday-school of which he is a treasurer.
