MARSHALL, physician, Shippensburg, was born near Fairfield, Adams Co., Penn., January 1, 1856, son of Thomas and Jane Ann (Kyner) Marshall, natives of Pennsylvania, and of Scotch-Irish descent. Thomas Marshall was a farmer all his life, and was also a prominent Democratic politician. Dr. James B. Marshall is the fourth in a family of five children. He acquired his education in the common schools and in the Normal school at Shippensburg, this county, and at the age of eighteen years he commenced the study of medicine in the office of Dr. Alexander Stewart & Son. In 1877 he entered Bellevue Medical College, New York, where he graduated with the degree of M. D. in 1879, and the same year commenced practice in Shippensburg, this county, where he still continues. The Doctor is a member of Cumberland County Medical Society. In politics he is a Republican.
