Their forefathers in America settled originally in York county, PA. Jacob Nailor was b. in York County. He was a carpenter and a bridge builder. He married twice. 1st Miss Grissinger, 2nd Mary Sprenkle. Children of the first union were; William H.; Sarah; Anna Mary. William H. Nailor 1845-97 b. near Lisburn. A well known horse and cattle dealer. m. Elizabeth, dau of Christian Otto. Children of this union: 1 Jacob S.; 2 John R.; Anna, George W. Irwin, 3 Charles H., and 4 Edwin E. 1 Jacob S. Nailor b. 1868 in Cumberland County. M. Caroline Crist dau of Samuel Crist of Upper Allen Twp. The children are: Leroy C., Paul H., Jacob S., Carrol O., and Helen E. 2 John R. Nailor b. 1869 near Lisburn. M. Agnes dau of Henry Hess in 1904. Two children, William H. and Anna Mary. 3 Charles H. b. 1873 in York County. m. Ada, dau. of Eli Yost in 1900. One dau. Isabella. 4 Edwin b. Feb 11, 1876 @ Rosegarden in York county near Dillsburg. A resident of Mechanicsburg and a councilman for six years of the fifth ward. m. Bessie Jane dau of Dr. J. T. Bressler of Upper Allen Twp. on October 24, 1899. Two sons: Edwin Soltau and Vance Tonner. Edwin Soltaum. Claribel E., dau of J. Wolford Geiger, November 20 1919. Their children Nancy Joan and Edwin Soltau Nailor, Jr. Vance Tonner Nailor m. Irene Helen dau of Ernest H. Smith of Chicago, Ill December 14, 1922. One dau. June Carolyn. pg. 414 THRUSH, AMBROSE WATTS Prominent physician and surgeon of Chambersburg. The following record of the Thrush family has been compiled by Dr. Thrush after much research. Thrush family of Cumberland Valley is descended from Leonard Thrush, who with his father, Jacob Thrush and four brothers: Peter, Jacob, Richard and John, emigrated from the lower Palatinate, landing in Philadelphia on Aug. 24, 1750, and shortly thereafter settled in the Cumberland Valley about 5 miles east of Shippensburg. Leonard and his brothers all did service in the Revolutionary War. Leonard raised a family of seven sons and three daughters: Jacob, Leonard b. abt 1760 d. 1842 , David, Peter, Barnabus, Martin, Richard, Catherine, Rosanna and Susannah. Of these Jacob and Leonard, the eldest two, were privates in the Revolutionary War. Leonard b. 1760 2nd son of Leonard the immigrant was the father of four sons and two daughters: Peter, Jacob, Joseph, Leonard b. 1799 d. 1883, Catherine and Mary. Leonard b. 1799 m. in 1829 to Nancy Fisher b. 1811 d. 1860. She was the youngest dau. of John and Mary (Alleman) Fisher. Leonard Thrush and Nancy Fisher, his wife, were the parents of three sons and three daughters: Daniel Webster, Elias, David, Mary Ann, Sarah and Emma. Daniel Webster Thrush b. 1830 d. 1875. From 1863 to 1867 he was the editor and proprietor of the "Shippensburg News". Daniel Webster Thrush m. Mary Ann Bollinger and they were the parents of two children, Ambrose Watts Thrush b. 1865 and Nancy Lydia Thrush b. in 1875 d. 1918. Dr. Thrush is a member of the sons of the American Revolution, of the Kittochtinny Historical Society, also Royal Arcanum. He holds membership in Zion Reformed Church. In 1891 he married Mary Jane Kieffer, the dau. of the honorable Cyrus T. and Lydia Ann (Britton) Kieffer, of this county. To this union were two children, Walter Kieffer Thrush now with Standard Oil Co. of PA , Mary Lydia Thrush m. in 1917 to Rev. Raymond L. Markley, of Altoona. The Markleys now reside in Lynchburg, Va. They have two children, Mary Jane and Raymond L., Jr.
