William Alexander's Co, PA, Militia - Certificate on back of roll dated Erie 2d April 1814. No other dates given, no other roll on file, no other information as to him or amount of service. Daniel Miller served in Capt. John B. Alexander's Company, Penn Mil. >From November 11, 1812 to December 31, 1812. Paid for one month and twenty days. Daniel Miller served in Capt. William Alexander's Company of Pennsylvania Mil. From June 16, 1814 to August 24, 1814. Paid for 2 months and 9 days served and 20 days (400 miles from Albany) to Carlisle, Penn.) travel. Also served in Wm Alexander's Co from February 24, 1814, to June 15, 1814. Paid for 3 months & 20 days. Discharged August 24, 1814 at Albany. Service Pension, War of 1812. Alexander's Co, in the war of 1812, for the term of six months. Record evidence of service. 3d And reports that Daniel Miller served in Capt. John B. Alexander's Co, Pa Mil from Nov. 11, to Dec 31, 1812. Also in Capt. Wm. Alexander's Co, Pa Mil. From Feb 24, to Aug 24, 1814, serving 233 days. Proof of identify: Aff. Of A. A. Trimper and Catharine Trimper who fully identify Claimant. Admitted April, 25, 1879, to a pension of Eight Dollars per month from March 9, 1878 the date of Act of Congress. Alexander's Company of Pennsylvania Militia show that Daniel Miller served from November 11, 1812, to December 31, 1812. Paid for one (1) Month and twenty (20) days. Daniel Miller served in Capt. William Alexander's Company of Pennsylvania Militia from February 24, 1814, to August 24, 1814. State of Pennsylvania, County of Cumberland SS. We David Eberly and Levi F. Eberly of the Borough of Mechanicsburg County of Cumberland State of Pennsylvania make oath and say that we are aged respectively fifty nine years and sixty years and that we knew intimately and well, Daniel Miller a soldier of the War of 1812 and his wife Elizabeth Miller from about the year 1830. That they were respectable people in good standing as members of the Lutheran Church, cohabitated together as husband and wife & were recognized in that relation by the Community in which they lived. That the said Daniel Miller died at Gettysburgh Penna. in or about the {blank} day of May A.D. 1841 and after his death his widow Elizabeth Miller removed to the State of Illinois and that we have no interest in the claim of said Elizabeth Miller for pension. A. Page. Final search No record. M. Gorman - Apr 3/80 [1880] Marriage: March 5, 1818 Daniel MILLER to Elizabeth FRANKENBURGER alleged by claimant at Carlisle Cumberland Co, PA. Cohabitation shown by testimony of Ephraim Miller, Mary J. Miller, David Eberly and L. F. Eberly. Proof as to capacity to marry: Claimant alleges no prior marriage. Death of soldier: April 8, 1841, shown by testimony of David Eberly & L. F. Eberly Widowhood: Testimony of A. A. Trimper & Catharine Trimper Incidental Matter. A soldier of the war of 1812, and his wife Elizabeth Miller from about the year 1830. Said Daniel Miller died at Gettysburgh Pa, in 1841 and after his death his widow Elizabeth removed to the state of Ill. Ephraim Miller testifies that he is a son of claimant and soldier, that he was born in Cumberland Co, Pa., Dec 8, 1818 and that claimant is the widow of soldier. Claim of Widow For Bounty Land: Widow of Daniel Miller a Private of Capt. Alexander's Co, Reg't of Penn. Militia - War of 1812 - Filed by Chas. E. Brown, Cincinnati, Ohio State of Kansas, County of Douglas SS. On this 19 day of January, A.D. one thousand eight hundred and eighty personally appeared before me Clerk of the district Court a Court of Record within and for the county and State aforesaid. Elizabeth Miller aged 81 years, a resident of Lawrence in the county of Douglas, in the State of Kansas who, being duly sworn according to law, declares that she is the widow of Daniel Miller, deceased who was the identical Daniel Miller who served under the name of Daniel Miller, as Private in the company commanded by Captain Alexander, in the regiment of Penn. Militia, in the war of 1812; that her said husband volunteered at Carlisle Pa, on or about the 1 day of March, A.D. 1814 for the term of 6 months, and continued in actual service in said war for the term of six months, and whose service terminated by reason of an honorable discharge at Green Bush N.Y., on the last day of Sept, A.D. 1814. She further states that the following is a full description of said husband at the time of his enlistment, viz: 23 years of age, Medium Height, Black Hair, Light Hazel Eyes, Fair Complexion, Born in Lancaster Pa., & a Mechanic by occupation. She further states that she was married to the said Daniel Miller, at the city of Carlisle, in the County of Cumberland, and in the State of Pennsylvania, on the 5 day of March, A.D. 1818 by one Benj. Keller, who was a Minister of the Gospel; and that her name before her said marriage was Elizabeth FRANKENBERGER; and she further states that Neither she or her said husband had been previously married and that her said husband Daniel Miller, died at Gettysburg, in the State of Pennsylvania, on the 8 day of April A.D. 1841 and she further declares that the following have been the places of residence of herself and her husband since the date of his discharge from the Army, viz: Residence from time of discharge to 1837, Mechanicsburg, Pa & from 1837 to 1841, Gettysburg Pa. She then lived in Illinois until 1873 when she removed to Kansas. She makes this declaration for the purpose of obtaining the bounty land to which she may be entitled under the act approved March 3, 1855, and hereby appoints, with full power of substitution and revocation, Chas. E. Brown of Cincinnati, Ohio her lawful attorney, to prosecute her claim. She also declares that she has heretofore made application for Pension & allowed (Certificate #23.945). Has also made application for Bounty Land in 1855 but never received it. She Employed Harry Milton to prosecute said claim he resided at that time at Hillsboro, Ill. Her P.O. at that time was Peoria, Ill, and that her residence is now city of Lawrence, County of Douglas, and State of Kansas, and that her post office address is Lawrence, Douglas County, Kansas. Trimper, aged 63 year, residing at No. Connecticut Street, in Lawrence, and Catharine Trimper aged 59 years, residing at No. Connecticut Street, in Lawrence, persons whom I certify to be respectable and entitled to credit, and who, being by me duly sworn, say that they have known the said Elizabeth Miller for 42 and 59 years, respectively; that they were present and saw her sign her name (or make her mark) to the foregoing declaration; that they have every reason to believe, from the appearance of said claimant and their acquaintance with her, that she is the identical person she represents herself to be; and they further say that they are able to identify her as the person who was the wife of the identical Daniel Miller, who rendered the service alleged in the above application (in the company of Captain Alexander, in the war of 1812 by the following-named facts and circumstances, viz intimate personal acquaintance for the above specified number of years and that they have no interest in the prosecution of this claim.
