Alexander of Millerstown, Perry Co, Pa daughter of Rev Dr Samuel Carothers Alexander sends clipping announcing the death at his home in Carlisle, Pa of Samuel Henderson Carothers on Dec 19, 1930 who was then a J.P. recently taking said office who had taught 42 years in the schools of Cumberland Co, Pa. At his bedside was his wife, his daughter Margaret, wife of Dr Wm Foster Burdick of Washington who arrived home late the night before. He started teaching in the public schools at Mt Rock in 1878 & taught continuously until last year when elected J.P. except for 6 yrs during which he was sealer of weights & measures from 1914 to 1920. He was a member of 2d Pres Church & was an active Democrat. He is also survived by a son Carl Carothers of Pittsburgh, Pa who is now in Florida. Additional Comments: Extracted from the Josiah V.
