She was born April 23, 1921, in Boston, MA, the daughter of the late Lewis and Margaret (Harmon) Graves. Mira held a BA in English from Cornell University and was a retired Administrative Assistant for the Pennsylvania Dept. of Education. Her career included personnel, administration, and management in both private and government sectors. Since retiring in 1982, she was involved in volunteer activities reflecting her primary interests in American history, historic preservation and family genealogy. She was active in Gettysburg YWCA and its Elderhostel Civil War series; Gettysburg Bicentennial Celebration program chair; member of the Board of Trustees of the Adams Co. Library; Adams Co. Historical Architectural Review Board; Gettysburg Historical Building Survey Committee; the Gettysburg Hospital Auxiliary Board; and Chapter AQ, P.E.O., Mechanicsburg. Mira was a former Sunday school teacher, girl scout leader and 4-H leader. Working with the Assoc. of Gravestone studies, she developed a program for forth and fifth graders to visit local cemeteries. Mira was especially known throughout the area for her vintage clothing shows. Mira is survived by her daughter, Ann G. Fox of Dillsburg. Her son-in-law, Harry H. Fox, Jr. and his companion Joan Gavula. She also leaves behind two grandchildren, Amanda M. Hull and her husband Corey and Brandon H. Fox and his wife Katie, both of Dillsburg; and three great-grandchildren, Kyle Hull, Carson Hull, Isabelle Fox and soon to be baby Hull. Mira was preceded in death by one sister, Barbara Graves and one brother, John H. Graves. Memorial services will be held Monday, November 3, 2008, at 2:00 PM in the Cocklin Funeral Home, Inc., 30 N. Chestnut St. Dillsburg, PA. A visitation will be held Monday from 1-2 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Chapter AQ, P.E.O., c/o Holly Anderson, 2 Latchgate Lane, Mechanicsburg, PA 17050.
