By the Tenor of these Presents, I BENJAMIN CHEW, Register General for the Probate of Wills and granting Letters of Administration, in and for the Province of Pennsylvania. DO MAKE KNOWN, unto all People that on the Day of the Date hereof at Carlisle in the County of Cumberland, before me was proved, approved and insinuated the last Will and Testament of James Balla deceased, (a true Copy whereof is to these Presents annexed) having whilst he lived and at the Time of his Death, divers Goods, Chattles, Rights and Credits within the said County, by Means whereof the Aprobation and Insinuation of the said last Will and Testament, and the Committing the Administration of all and singular the Goods, Chattles, Rights and Credits which were of the said Decedent, and also the Auditing the Accompts, Calculations and Reckoning of the Said Administration, and a final Dismission from the same to me is manifestly known to belong, and Administration of all and singular the Goods, Chattles, Rights and Credits of the said Decent any wife concerning his last Will and Testament was committed to Elisabeth Balla and James Balla in the said Testament named, chiefly of well and truly administering the Goods, Chattles, Rights and Credits of the said Decedent and making a true and perfect Inventory thereof, and exhibiting the same into the Deputy Register's Office at Carlisle at or before Twentieth Day of July next: And rendering a true and just Accompt, Calculation and Reckoning of the Said Administration when thereunto lawfully required being being Legally Sworn thereto thereto. IN TESTIMONY whereof I have hereunto set my Hand and Seal of Office at Carlisle, the Twentieth Day of June in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Seventy. ~John Armstrong~signature In the name of God Amen I James Balla of Air Township Cumberland County and province of Pennsylvania being weak in Body but sound in memory (Blessed be God) do this Second day of April in the year of our Lord 1770 make and Publish this my last Will and Testament in manner following (that is to say) first that all legal debts and funeral Charges must be paid then I give to James Balla my eldest Son and Augustus Balla my second Son I give all that messuage and Tennement of situate where on I now live, also I give to my dear Wife one Mare, two Cows, and six Sheep, and Peaceable Possession, wherein now she posseses and Sufficient maintainance during her Widdowhood I also give to my Son George Balla, one years Schooling and a Trade, if he desires it and good Close and when he is of age a Horse and Saddle worth fifteen Pounds I also give to my daughter Willmina Balla Twenty Pounds to be paid in goods or Cattle. I also give to my daughter Mary Balla twenty Pounds to be in the same I also give to my grandson Jonathan Shelby five Pounds to be paid when he is come of age I also give to my daughter Elizabeth five Pounds to be paid in goods or Cattle I also make and ordain her my said wife and James Balla my son Sole Executrix of this my Will in trust for the intent and purpossed in this my Will contain'd In wilness where of I the said James Balla have to this my last Will and Testament Set my Hand and Seal the day and year above Written Signed Sealed and delivered by the said James Balla as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of as} ~Jas.
