  BRICE, INNIS, M.D., the son of Brice and Elizabeth Innis, was a 
native of Hanover, born in 1751.  He received a good education, studied 
medicine at Philadelphia, and was in the beginning of a successful 
practice when the war of the Revolution broke out.  He was commissioned 
a hospital surgeon in the Continental service, took ill during the 
cantonment at Valley Forge in December, 1777, returned home and died on 
the 2d of January, 1778, aged twenty-six years.  He is buried in 
Hanover graveyard.  His father, Brice Innis, Sr., born in 1711, an 
early settler in Hanover, was so shocked by the sudden death of his son 
that he died a few weeks afterwards, on February 18, 1778.  Mrs. 
Elizabeth Innis, born 1715, died January 3, 1788.  Besides Dr. Brice 
Innis they had Ann, married _____ Irwin; Rachel, married David Sterrat; 
Dr. James, who was a surgeon of the Pennsylvania Line; Elizabeth, 
married John Gilchrist; and Mary, married Col. Timothy Green.
