All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/dauphin/ _______________________________________________ 1785 16 December 1785 Dauphin County Deed Book A Vol 1 Page 195 John Ebersohl & Barbara his wife to John Hoghsteter & Christian Gingrich This Indenture made the sixteenth day December in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty five Between John Ebersohl of the Township of Lebanon in the COunty of Dauphin and in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Yeoman and Barbara his wife. The said Barbara being the late wife of John Hoghstater late of the township of Londonderry in the County and Commonwealth aforesaid yeoman deceased of the one part and John Hoghsteter and Christian Gingrich of the same place yeomen of the other part. Whereas the said John Hoghsteter was in his Life time and immediately after the time of his decease Lawfully Seised and Possessed of a certain Tract or Piece of _____ land situate in the Townships of Londonderry & Mount Joy in the Counties of Dauphin and Lancaster afroesaid bounded or adjoining the Lands of James Foster, William Moore, John Kennedy and others Containing two hundred and twenty? acres to the same ore or less And being as aforesaid feifed and possessed These of Dec'd having first made his Last Will and Testament in writing bearing date on the twenty seventh? day of February in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy seven and therein and thereby did order direct and bequeath the one third part of this Estate the Quanity of thirty acres of land and seveeral other Articles unto his wife the said Barbara (party hereto) in the words following "Imprimise I leave and bequeath to Barbara Hoghtater my dealy beloved wife the third part of all I now possess of all my real and personal estate" and in another clause did give and bequeath unto his said wife thirty acres of and being part of his said Plantation in the words following "I also leave to Barbara Hostater my wife thirty acres of Land on the upper end of my Estate joining the lines of James Foster and Jacob Eshelman and her heris forever and assigns Now This Indenture Witnesseth that the said John Ebersold and Barbara his wife as will for and in Consideration of the Sum of seven shillings and six pence lawfull money of Pennsylvania to them in hand paid by the said John Hoghstater and Christian Gingrich at anad immediately before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt and payment whereof are hreby acknowledged as the Natural Love and affection they bear for and towards the said John Hoghstater their Son and the said Christian Gingrich their Son-in-Law and for their better advancement and prefermont in this World hHave and each of them Hath granted bargained sold aliend _____ released enfeoffed and confirmed and by these presents Do and each of them Doth grant bargain Sell alien ___ release enfeof and confirm unto the said John Hoghstater and Christian Gingrich and to their heirs and assigns all that their Estate and third part of and in the said tract of Land containing about two hundred and twenty acres be the same more or less Together with all and singular the buildings and improvements ways woods waters watercourses rights liberties priveleges Hereditaments and Appurtenances whatsoever there unto belonging or in any way appertaining and the Revistions and Remainders thereof and also all the Estate Right Title Interest Use Trust Property Claim and Demand what soever of them the said John Ebersold and Barbara his wife and each of them in pursuance of the said Last Will and Testament excepting the said thirty acres of Land in the said last will mentioned and bequeathed both at Law and in Equity or otherwise howsoever in and to the same premises and every part thereof To have and to hold the said third part of and in the said Improvement and Tract of Land Hereditaments and PRemises hereby granted and released with the appurtenances excepting as before excepted. Unto the said John Hoghstater and Christian Gingrich their heirs and assigns that is to say the one full or undivided Moiety or half part of the same PRemises to and unto the only proper use Benefit and behoof of him the said John Hoghstater his heris and assigns forever And the other one full Moiety or undivided half part of the said Permisses To and unto the only proper use benefit and behoof of him the said Christian Ginchrich his heirs and assigns forever Under and Subject to the remainder of the Purchase Money Quit Rent and Interest now due and hereafter to become due and payable for the same and also Subject to the thirty acres of Land bequeathed to the said Barbara in the said recited Testament So That neither the said John Ebersold and the said Barbara his wife nor their several and respective Heirs nor any other Person or Person on their nor any of their name place or stead shall ask challange or demand any further share or Estate in the hereby granted Premisses with the appurtenances but of and from the same and every part thereof shall be utterly Barred and forever secluded by these presents In Witness whereof the said Parties to these presents have hereunto interchangeably set their hands and seals the day and year first in the beginning written. Received on the day of the date of the within written Indenture of and from the within named John Hoghstatter and Christian Gingrich the sum of Seven shilings and six pence Lawfull Money of Pennsylvania it being the full Consideration Money in the within Indenture mentioned. Barbara (her O Mark) Ebersold Dauphin County Be it Remembered that on the 16th day of December Anno Domini 1786 before me John Gloninger Esquire one of the Justices of the Court of Common Pleas for the said County came John Ebersold and Barbara his wife and acknowledged the within written Indenture to be their act and deed and desired that the same may be recorded as such. The said Barbara being of full age thereto freely consenting and by me seperate and apart from her said husband examined and the contents thereof being first made known unto the her.
