All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/dauphin/ _________________________________________ Application For Bounty Land State of Pennsylvania County of Dauphin On this Sixth day of November Anno Domini One thousand eight hundred and fifty personally appeared before me a Justice of the Pease within and for the State and County aforesaid, John Road, aged seventy years a resident of the Borough of Harrisburg in the County and State aforesaid. Who being duly sworn according to law, declares that he is the identical John Road who was a private in the company commanded by Capt. Richard Knight and afterwards by Capt. Phillip Cline in the First Regiment Penna. Militia commanded by Col. Maxwell Kennedy in the war with Great Britain declared by the United States on the 18th day of June 1812, that he was drafted, and was mustered at York in the County of York and State of Penna. On or about the 5th day of September A.D. 1814, for the term of Six months and continued in actual service in said war for the term of three months and was honorably discharged at Baltimore in the State of Maryland an or about the 3rd day of December A.D. 1814 as will appear by the muster rolls of his said company as well as by his original certificate of discharge herewith presented. He makes this declaration for the purpose of obtaining the bounty land to which he may be entitled under the "act granting bounty land to certain officers & soldiers who have been engaged in the military service of The United States", passed September 28, 1850 (saving his rights under any subsequent law relating thereto). His John X Road Mark Sworn and Subscribed before me the day and year find above written, and I hereby Certify that I believe the said John Road to be the identical man who served as aforesaid and that he is of the above stated, signed by making his mark. Thomas Forster State of Pennsylvania Dauphin County I Stephen Miller Prothonotary of the Court of Common Pleas in and for the County of Dauphin do hereby certify that Thomas Forster whose name is subscribed to the foregoing certificates is an acting Justice of the Peace in and for said County duly elected and commissioned and that full faith and credit is and ought to be given to all such his official acts accordingly and the signature thereto purporting to be his is genuine . Given under my hand and the seal of the said court at Harrisburg this thirtieth day of November Anno Domini 1850 Stephen Miller, Proth'y State of Pennsylvania County of Dauphin On this Seventeenth day of December Anno Domini One Thousand Eight Hundred and fifty, personally came before me a Justice of the Pease as above stated, Jacob Fisler aged 63 years a resident of the said County of Dauphin who being duly affirmed according to law says that he served a tour of military duty in the service of The United States in the year 1814 and was attached to a company originally commanded by Capt. Richard Knight and afterwards by Phillip Cline within mentioned, that he was and yet is well acquainted with John Road who was a private in said company and that the John Road who made and signed the within declaration is the identical man who served in said company as he has more particularly therein set forth. Philip Cline's company of militia, has served a tour of duty in the 1st regiment, 1st brigade, Pennsylvania militia, under the command of brigadier general John Forster, under requisition of the President of the United States, which tour commenced the 1st September, 1814, and continued until discharged by a general order, dated the 3d December, 1814.
