(Ebensburg, Pa.) 1867-1938: February 18, 1871 February 14, 1871 A brakeman named James Brady, employed on the Middle Division of the Pennsylvania Railroad, was killed in the Yard, at this place, on yesterday morning, about eleven o'clock. He had been in the employ of the Railroad Company in the Yard, at Harrisburg, for some time past, but when he met the grim monster Death, was making his first trip through on the Middle Division. His train, the fourth stock, had been made up, and was about to leave for the East, when it is supposed that he fell off the train and was struck by one of the trucks and thrown between the tracks, breaking his neck and otherwise injuring him internally. His body was conveyed to the "dead house," and the Coroner being notified, summoned a jury and held an inquest, rendering a verdict in accordance with the above facts. Mr. Brady was about 30 years of age, and has a wife residing in Harrisburg, to which place his body was subsequently forwarded for interment. Alt. - Tribune, 15th.
