All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/dauphin/ _________________________________________ Lieutenant Atticks Drowns in Ohio Lieutenant Daniel Evans Atticks, 32 years old, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Atticks, of Paxtang, was drowned yesterday in the Ohio River, according to information received by the Atticks' family last evening. Lieutenant Atticks has been in the Regular Army twelve years. He served two years on the Mexican Border and several years in the Philippine Islands. After the United States declared war on Germany, Lieutenant Atticks was assigned to recruiting service at Fort Thomas, Ky. Since his enlistment in the United States Army, Lieutenant Atticks has traveled extensively and has been in practically every state in the Union. The body will be brought here today from Ohio. He will be buried with military honors in the Paxtang Cemetery. The Rev. Harry B. King, pastor of the Paxton Presbyterian Church, will officiate. Military organizations of this city, including men employed in the local army recruiting office, will be asked to attend the funeral. The lieutenant is survived by his parents, two brothers, William C., and Allen T., both of Paxtang, and one sister, Mrs. Edwin R. Gault, of Harrisburg.
