LIPPI By United Press PHILADELPHIA, Aug. 27. - Benjamin F. Lippi, of Harrisburg, a Pennsylvania Railroad engineer, was struck and killed by a switching engine near the West Philadelphia station today. Benjamin F. Lippi, the Harrisburg engineer killed in Philadelphia today, was in the passenger service in which he had long been employed. He was 23 years with the Pennsy. His residence was at 528 Peffer street. He was 52 years old and is survived by his widow and two daughters. Lippi left this city at 3 o'clock this morning, in charge of a passenger train and according to advices received here late this afternoon, he was struck and instantly killed by a Schuylkill division train in the Philadelphia yards as he stood at the side of his engine. Lippi was widely known among railroad men in this city and along the entire Philadelphia division. He belonged to several railroad men's organizations. Lippi, 49 years old, 528 Peffer street, Pennsylvania Railroad engineer, killed in Philadelphia yesterday, was brought to this city late last evening by Hoover & Son. Lippi was killed while at work in the Spring Garden yards of the Pennsy at Philadelphia. He had dismounted from his cab and stepped in front of a train of empty passenger cars which were backing into the yards. He was killed instantly. Lippi had been in the service of the company since 1895, running for the greater part of the time on the Philadelphia Division. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth, three daughters, Elva, Nora, who was valedictorian of the class of 1917 at Central High School, and Helen; a brother Edgar, and a step-sister, Viola Rose. He was a member of the B. of L. E. and the Knights of Malta. Funeral services will be held at the house Friday afternoon at 1.30 o'clock with the Rev. A. M.
