Simonton, a freight engineer on the Middle Division of the Pennsylvania Railroad, was struck by a passenger train in the Marysville yards at 5 o'clock this morning and instantly killed. He was returning with his train from Altoona and was aboard the second engine of the train, which was a double header. The train stopped near NC tower and Simonton stepped off to send a telephone message in a nearby booth. Upon returning he signaled the first engine of his train to start and then walked slowly up to meet the second engine. He did not notice a passenger train bound west and was struck and terribly mangled. Simonton was 51 years old and resided at 629 Harris street, this city. He is survived by his wife, Laura E. Simonton, and seven children. The funeral will be held Friday afternoon at 1.30 at the home, with the Rev. A. M. Sayres, pastor of Second Reformed Church, officiating. Burial will be made in the East Harrisburg Cemetery. Simonton was a member of Lodge, No. 459, Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers.
