Stoops, 38 years old, committed suicide at the home of his step- brother, Morris C. Sharrah, along the Leitersburg road, near the iron bridge, south of this place. Stoops had suffered for several years from tuberculosis and had spent some time at the White Pine Sanatorium at Mont Alto, but had left there several months ago. Feeling that he was not getting any better since he returned to the home of his step-brother, he again made application to the sanatorium, but failing to get admission at once, he became melancholy. He took the belt from his bathrobe and placing one end of it around his neck, he fastened the other end to a rafter in the attic of the Sharrah home and hung himself. Mrs. Sharrah found his body three hours later. Stoops was for many years a resident of this place. He is survived by a daughter and son. The Evening News, Harrisburg, Penna., Tuesday, June 18, 1918
