Truby Succumbs; Retired Detective Captain William C. Truby of Dauphin RD 1 died Monday at home. He was a direct descendant of Christopher Truby, founder of Greensburg and a former judge in Westmoreland County. The son of Dr. Simon C. and D. E. Jean Truby, he was a graduate of the Institute of Applied Science, Chicago, class of 1926 and was the first fingerprint expert of Harrisburg Police Department. He was a retired captain of detectives, with 26 years of service, and a retired deputy clerk for Dauphin County Court, and also was a senior clerk for Dauphin County Court He was a member of Hope Presbyterian Church, a veteran of World War I, with the 28th Division, a 50-year member of Zembo Temple, a member of the Mounted Patrol and Police Units, William Snyder Lodge 756, F&AM, Harrisburg Consistory, BPOE Lodge 12, and was a life member of the Pennsylvania Chiefs of Police Association, the FOP and the VFW. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Estella W. Truby; a daughter Twila Shreffler of Harrisburg; a sister, Nellie Craigmile of Hinsdale, Ill.; two grandsons, and a number of nieces and nephews. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial services will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at Faith Presbyterian Church, 1801 Colonial Road. The Rev. James E. Hicks, his pastor, will officiate. Arrangements are being handled by the funeral home at 911 N.
