All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/dauphin/ _________________________________________ Social YOUNG COUPLE WED IN CAMP LEE Sergeant Jennings and Miss Yetter Married in Real Military Style A military wedding of much interest to Harrisburg people, and attended by a large number of Harrisburg boys of the 35th Company, 155th Depot Brigade, Camp Lee, Va., took place June 17, at 7.30 o'clock p.m., in the reception room of the company at Camp Lee, when Miss Elsie Blanche Yetter and Sergeant Virgil B. Jennings, both of Harrisburg, were married with the Rev. Dr. Lewis M. Roper, pastor of the First Baptist Church, Petersburg, Va., officiating. The reception room presented a festive air, decorated with quantities of ferns and wild flowers and brilliant with many American flags and red, white and blue bunting. Miss Clara Hays, of Petersburg, played the wedding march and before the ceremony, William Boyer, the well- known Harrisburg baritone, who is one of the boys at Camp Lee, sang, "Oh Promise Me." The bride, who was given in marriage by Lieutenant Joe W. Lee, was attended by Mrs. Norman Wuchner, of Charleston, W. Va., as matron of honor. Lieutenant Frank L. Myers was best man. Following the ceremony a reception and dinner were given in honor of the bride and bridegroom at which Clarence Walters presented the wedding gifts with a speech in behalf of the boys. Guests at the wedding and reception included: Miss Clara Hays, Miss Sallie D. Hays, Miss Alice Lee Mason, Mrs. J. W. Hays, all of Petersburg, Va.; Captain Robert E. Lea, 35th Co., 9th Tr. Bn.; First Lieutenant Frank L. Myers, 35th Co., 9th Tr. Bn.; Second Lieutenants Joe W. Lee, Robert B. Rose, W. H. Smith, Jr., C. M. Myers, C. R. Fadeley, R. E. Brashear, J. J. Vincent, Francis B. Vanderveen, Hollen and Jay Garman; Lieutenants C. K. Hunter and W. M. Spears, and the following Harrisburg boys in training at the camp: Corporals V. B. Jennings and Ira C. Kindler, Privates William H. Boyer, Roy V. Buller, Clarence E. Hollenbaugh; Harry B. Mateer, Raymond and Robert C. Michael, Clarence C.
