Harrisburg Patriot, February 8: Miss Mabel E. Duff, the estimable daughter of Dr. W. L. Duff, and John P. McPherran, a son of Dr. Adam McPherran, of Spruce Creek, and a passenger brakeman on the Middle division of the Pennsylvania rail road, were united in marriage at 8.30 o'clock last evening by Rev. Dr. S. C. Swallow, at the residence of the bride's parents, 710 North Third street. The bride was charmingly attired in a costume of white cashmere, trimmed with white silk, and wore a beautiful boquet of pearl roses, also white kid gloves and white slippers. After the ceremony and the congratulations an elegant supper was served. The presents received were beautiful and costly, consisting of silver tea and ice cream sets, glassware, cutlery, linen, statuary, handsomely framed steel engravings and plush furniture. The happy couple took the midnight train for the west. They will visit Chicago, Pontiac, Illinois, and other points, and will remain away for about two weeks. Mr. and Mrs. McPherran carry with them the best wishes of a host of friends in this city and elsewhere. Altoona Tribune, February 14, 1889
