All Rights Reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/pafiles.htm ********************************************************* Eli Garrett born December 2, 1830, in Wilmington, Delaware was the son of Thomas Garrett "Station Master On The Underground Railroad" and Rachel Mendenhall. Eli Garrett stood about six feet tall, was 190 pounds, had brown hair, and blue eyes. On April 26, 1855, in Milbourne section of Upper Darby, Pennsylvania he married Frances Sellers, daughter of John Sellers and Elizabeth Poole. Both parents John Sellers and Thomas Garrett worked together on the Underground Railroad for years. Frances was born September 23, 1833, in Upper Darby, Pa. Eli and Frances made their home in Wilmington, Delaware where Eli worked with his father as the treasurer of Edgmoor Iron Company. They had four children, Helen Sellers Garrett was born in 1857, Rachel Mendenhall Garrett was born in 1860, who married Lewis Cass Vandergrift, Ann Robinson Garrett was born in 1865, who married Henry Banning Bradford, and Francis Sellers Garrett was born in 1869, who married Edith Sharpleigh. Eli and Frances were living at 1315 Delaware Ave in Wilmington, Delaware at Eli's death on May 25, 1886. Frances Sellers Garrett died August 2, 1918.
