Mr. LAWTON had been engaged in hauling in his oats, and had left the barn but a moment previous to its being struck. The shock prostrated him, and when he recovered, he found the flames had progressed so rapidly as to render the saving of any of the articles within the building impossible. A large tree, standing near the barn, was struck at the same time, and riven into splinters. We are told that there was no insurance upon the building or crops - The loss is therefore a serious one. Note: Jabez LAWTON, son of Benjamin LAWTON & Sarah "Sally" BOWDEN, was born 1809, in Delph, Saddleworth, Yorkshire, England. Naturalization, 29 August 1832. The manager of the W. T. Crook Factory, Upper bank. One of the founders and the treasurer of The Media Methodist Episcopal Church. (1851 - 1853) Owner of a 96 acres farm, Tanguy, Thornbury, Delaware County, PA. (1856)
