J. B. Maddux, well and favorably known by the citizens of Chester and vicinity for many years past, died at his residence in this city yesterday at 1.45 p. m. Mr. Maddux failed in health while stationed at Chestnut Hill, some two years since, and has since resided in Chester. He filled during his ministry of 36 years many of the important posts in the Philadelphia M. E. Conference. He was twice pastor of the First M. E. church in this city, and during his second term superintended the erection of Madison Street M. E. church, in which his funeral services will be held on Friday next at 12 o'clock noon. ----------------------------------- DIED. MADDUX.-On the 18th inst., Rev. John B. Maddux, aged 58 years. His relatives and friends, and the members of the Philadelphia Conference of the M. E. Church, are respectfully invited to attend the funeral, from his late residence, 309 east Eighth street, on Friday, 21st inst., at 11 A. M. Services at Madison street M. E. church at 12 o'clock.
