Mrs. Anna P. Markland
Widow, 86, was Daughter of First Woman Physician in N. Y.
     The funeral of Mrs. Anna Park Markland, 86, widow of Henry Broome 
Markland and daughter of two physicians, who died Friday at her home in 
Secane, Pa. was held from the home today.
     Mrs. Markland's mother was the former Dr. Anna E. Park, said to have been 
the first woman physician in New York City, and her father was Dr. Galusha 
Smith, another New York physician.
     Her four surviving children are George L. Markland, Jr. chairman of the 
board of the Philadelphia Gear Works; Matthew B. Markland, head of M. B. 
Markland & Co., of Atlantic City, builders of the Atlantic City Convention 
Hall; Mrs. John H. Muller, whose husband is professor of chemistry at the 
University of Pennsylvania, and Mrs. Henry Grey Steele, of Conshohocken.
