Born on the site now occupied by the Delaware County Home, in Lima. Mr. PENNELL was one of the pioneers of that section of the county. He was active in temperance work and civic improvement projects always found in him a staunch supporter. He is survived by six children: Dr. Howard P. Pennell, of Downingtown; Miss Hannah S. Pennell, Miss Elizabeth S. Pennell, James Pennell, Arthur Pennell and Dr. Francis W. Pennell, who is assistant curator at the Academy of Natural Science, Philadelphia. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock in the MIDDLETOWN ORTHODOX FRIENDS MEETING HOUSE. Interment will be in the burying grounds adjoining the house of worship. 21 May 1927 Saturday Chester Times Funeral of Joseph Pennell The funeral of JOSEPH PENNELL, aged 82 years, was held yesterday at the ORTHODOX Friends Meeting House Middletown. There was a large gathering of relatives and friends. ANN SHARPLESS, of West Chester; CAROLINE RIDDLE, of Media; ABBLE CARTER, of WaWa; CHARLES PALMER, of Westtown; and JOHN PINA CARTER, of WaWa spoke. Interment was in the burying ground adjoining the meeting house. The pallbearers were: HENRY PALMER, JOHN PINA CARTER, ENSON HARVEY, WILLIAM THORP, JOHN D. CARTER and JOHN V. CARTER.
