Rennie Dies at 84 in Media MEDIA Dr. Wesley H. Rennie 84, who went on President Theodore Roosevelt's good will tour, the White Fleet, died Saturday in the Smith Memorial Nursing Home, Media. Dr. Rennie was born in Chester, son of the late Alfred G. and Mary Barnard Rennie. He was graduated from the South Chester High School in 1892. He received his M.D. degree from Hahnemann Medical College in Philadelphia. Following his internships at several New York hospitals, Dr. Rennie began his practice in his home at 5th and Kerlin Sts., Chester. He was on the staff of Crozier Hospital when it was first opened. He then entered the Navy, serving as a surgeon for 13 years. During this time he went with Teddy Roosevelt's good will tour, the White Fleet. He served two years in the Philippines during the Russo-Japanese War. In 1918 he resigned from the Navy with the rank of lieutenant commander. With the United States entry into World War I, Dr. Rennie went overseas with the American Red Cross. Immediately following the armistice, at the request of the Greek Government, he went to Athens to organize and establish infant welfare. As a result of his work, he received a decoration From the king of Greece. A similar request came from Rumania to undertake the national campaign for child welfare. After consultation with Queen Marie, he established a 200-bed Children's Hospital in Bucharest. Upon his return, Dr. Rennie practiced in Philadelphia and was on the staff at Hahnemann Hospital. For a number of years since his retirement he had travelled extensively all over the world. He was a member of Chester Lodge 236, F.and A.M., and had received his 50-year service pin from the Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania. He is survived by one son, Rev. J. Wesley Rennie, rector of Calvary Episcopal Church, Rockdale, and a sister, Ella W. Rennie of Ridley Park. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Griffith Chapel, 520 Chester Pike.
