For four or five weeks Mr. Riley has been ill with tyhoid malarial fever, and a week ago had recovered sufficiently to venture out doors. In fact he was at work most of this week, but by no means convalescent. It is supposed that he went out too soon, took a relapse yesterday and died this morning. He leaves a widow and family of children, most of whom are grown up. ---------------------------------------- Chester Times (10 Jan 1882) Page 3 OBSEQUIES.-The funeral of the late James Riley took place from his late residence, on Second street, yesterday afternoon, and was largely attended. The services were held in the First Baptist church, and the Rev. A. G. Thomas officiated. Besides a large number of relatives, friends and employes of B. Garside & Son's mill, where the deceased were employed, there was present the members of Larkin Lodge, No. 78, K. of P., of which Mr. Riley was an honored member.
