SCHOFF OBIT 1957 - FOUNDER OF THE MEDIA HOSPITAL FOUNDER OF THE MEDIA HOSPITAL DR. C. H. SCHOFF, SUCCUMBS AT 86 27 October 1957 DR. CHARLES H. SCHOFF, founder of former MEDIA HOSPITAL, for years the only institution of its kind serving the western section of Delaware County, died Friday in University Hospital. He was 86. DR. SCHOFF, physician and surgeon, opened the hospital in 1909 and operated it until 1951, when it closed. He had practiced medicine in the Media area since 1895. A native of Annapolis, Md., DR. SCHOFF was a graduate of St. John's College and the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He captained the 1892 football team at Penn and played varsity ball. He was a member of the American Medical Association, the American College of Surgeons, the Penn Varsity Club and the Springhaven Golf Club. Surviving are his wife, the former HELEN G. DUFFEE; two daughters, MRS. GRAHAM WENTZ, of Swarthmore, and MRS. LOUIS RIDDELL, of West Chester; and a brother, JAY J. SCHOFF. Solemn Requiem Mass will be sung at 10 A. M. Wednesday, in the Church of the Nativity, Franklin and Monroe sts., Media.
