SMITH Run down by a train 1 - 7 - 1936 Funeral services for PETER J. SMITH, Media mail driver, who died in the Chester Hospital last Tuesday after being run down by a train at the Pennsylvania Railroad Station, will be held from the Campbell A. M. E. Church on Monday at 2 P. M. Mr. SMITH and his family lived at 232 Brooks avenue since 1926, previous to which they resided in Philadelphia. At the time of the tragedy he had worked under contract with the postoffice for two and one-half years, driving his own truck on his eleven daily trips between the station and the postoffice. Before this work, he was employed by the SANDY BANK School in the capacities of janitor, bus driver, and engineer for three years. Almost ten years he previously spent in the employ of CHARLES PIERSON when the latter conducted his garage business. Mr. SMITH was 49 and is survived by a wife and two children, ADA, 13, and JOSEPH, 16, both attending the Media school. He was a member of the Campbell A. M. E. Church and was at one time active in Masons, Elks, and Knight of Pythias.
