THORP, of 404 West State street, yesterday received a cablegram containing the sad news of the death of their oldest son, ARTHUR THORP, aged forty-three years, in Russia. His wife, MARY THORP is homeward bound it is expected she will arrive in about three weeks. The cablegram was brief but said he had died of a "brain operation." The deceased was an architect and had gone to Russia with a group of twenty-four employees of Albert Kahn Architects, of Detroit, Mich., to do work for the Soviet Government. Mrs. Thorp had joined her husband; their ten-year-old son, remained in America. 20 March 1931 Friday Chester Times "Brief Notes of Media Borough" Mr. and Mrs. GEORGE S. THORP have as guests, their daughter-in-law, Mrs. ARTHUR THORP, whose husband died suddenly in Russia, on February 11, and her son, ARTHUR GEORGE THORP. The late Mr. Thorp was in Russia instructing the native American architecture. A memorial service will be held at the Friends' Meeting House on West Third street, Media, at 2 o'clock, Saturday afternoon.
