All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/pafiles.htm ************************************************ TOWNSEND, Gracey 1935 02 January 1935 Wednesday Chester Times Obituaries Woman Buried On Her 115th Birthday The funeral of "AUNT GRACEY" TOWNSEND, who died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. JAMES ROY, in Chester, was held yesterday on the anniversary of her birthday. Had she lived until New Year's Day, she would have been 115 years old. Services were held at Thornbury A. M. E. Church, Rev. J. O. McCall of the Elmwood Church was in charge, assisted by Rev. John W. Reid, pastor of the Thornbury Church and Rev. Amos Wilson. Interment was at the cemetery adjoining the church. Six grandsons were pallbearers: DAVID ROY, WILLIAM ROY, ANDREW ROY, CYUS ROY JESSE ROY and JOHN ROY. Mrs. TOWNSEND was born in Delaware in 1820. She had resided in Media at one time. Surviving are two daughter, Mrs. ROY, of Chester and Mrs. JAMES BEECHMAN, of Media; two sons, LEVI and ANDREW TOWNSEND, of Concord; fifty grandchildren and thirty-three great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren also survive.
