MARYS, ST. MARYS, PA THIS IS TO CERTIFY THAT GEORGE GEITNER (names are handwritten by two different people) AND ELIZABETH EICHENMULLER (UMLET OVER U) WERE LAWFULLY MARRIED on the 13 day of September, 1845 (19.. is scratched out) According to the Rite of the ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH and in conformity with the laws of the State of PA, Rev. "Not Given" officiating in the presence of Francis Bonnest and John Getz, Witnesses, as appears from the Marriage Register of this Church Dated March 15, 1978 Wolfgan Frey, OSB Pastor ANOTHER FOR THE SAME COUPLE WITH A DIFFERENT DATE Marriage Certificate official copy SAINT MARY'S CHURCH SAINT MARYS, PA (all appears in same handwriting) This is to certify That, George Geitner (30) and Elizabeth Eichenmuller (29) Both of Bavaria were lawfully MARRIED on the 14 day of October, 1845 (19.. scratched out) a note: I believe the date is wrong, ought be 13, Sept 1845 According to the Rite of the ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH and in conformity with the laws of the State of Pennsylvania Rev Fr. Kauder officiating in the presence of Francis Bonnest and Johannes Gotz Witnesses as appears from the Marriage Register of the Church Dated June 30, 1953 (sp?)Bainstan G. Takash, OSB Pastor Additional Comments: I would guess perhaps the first date Georg might have met Elizabeth at her ship and maybe married by ships captain? I believe he left her behind and sent for her and a 1 yr child he claimed as his. The second perhaps they were married officially at the Catholic Church with full blessings? The September certificate has more than one handwriting on it, the church name is handwritten in and the Rev.'s name was not given.....is why I assume married by a ships captain. The 2nd certificate is on official St. Mary's Church stamped paper and the Rev.'s name is given. My comments by Ginny Eakin......they are my 4th grandparents (Georg, Johann, William, Regis Sr....my dad.....then me) This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/pafiles/ File size: 2.6 Kb
