He was born Oct. 6, 1928, in Tyler a son of Charles and Gladys Smith Beldin. He married Lena Beldin of Emporium, who survives. A lifelong resident of Cameron County, Mr. Beldin was a veteran of the Korean conflict having served with the U.S. Army. He was a heavy equipment operator by trade and was employed by Emporium Contractors at the time of his retirement in 1991. In addition to his mother and his wife, he is survived by two sons, Vernon B. Beldin of Emporium and Edward "Butch" Beldin of Cape Cod, Mass.; one stepdaughter, Laura Fragale of Bradford; one grandson; three brothers, Lloyd P. Beldin of Pleasantville, N.J., Richard C. Beldin and Dennis H. Beldin, both of Driftwood; four sisters, Donna Cool of Sinnemahoning, Laura Arndt and Susie Gibbs, both of Emporium, and Phyllis Gower of Mill Hall; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Coppersmith-Condon Funeral Home, where funeral and committal services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday with the Rev. Dwight Simpson, pastor of the Faith Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Gardner Hill Cemetery, Force. Military honors will be accorded by the Cameron County Memorial Detail.
