Elk County Gazette Jul  22, 1909
      Tuesday, July 13th, 1909 Mr. Andrew Portzer died of dropsy and old age.
      Mr. Portzer was born February 2nd, 1830 at St. Ingbert, Bavaria, 
Germany. He grew up in Germany until eighteen years of age, when he came  
Columbia County, PA. From there he went to Scuylkill county, where at 
Bloomsburg he was united in marriage with Miss Anna Mary Swartz, who died 36 
years ago in Kersey. Three children survive: Henry, and Barbara (Mrs. 
Sabastian Sporner) of St. Marys, Lizzie, Mrs. Crick of Rimersburg, PA.
     The deceased was married again Nov. 18, 1874 to Miss Caroline Distler at 
the St. Marys Church, this city, who died five years ago. They had 5 children: 
Kate (Mrs. A.J. Bobenreith, Andrew and Frank, all of this city, Margaret (Mrs. 
John Brendel), and Mary, deceased.
     Relatives who attended from out of town were Mrs. Frank Crick of 
Rimersburg, Mrs. Joseph Omloner, and daughter Regina of Locust Gap, and Mrs. 
Mary Hirt of Kersey.
