He is the grandfather of George Smith, 44, also of Gardner Hill, who died in the Elk County General Hospital Tuesday Evening. The Elder Mr. Smith’s death followed a fall a week ago in which he fractured two ribs. Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at two o’clock at the Gardner Hill church, with burial in Gardner Hill Cemetery. Mr. Smith had resided in that section for over half a century, and followed an occupation of farming. He leaves three sons, William Smith with whom he lived; Jacob Smith, of Johnsonburg and Daniel Smith, of Olympia, Washington. His wife died ten years ago and two daughters preceded their father in death. Funeral services for George Smith, a World War veteran, were held this afternoon at 2:30 o’clock at the Gardner Hill church near Weedville, with interment in Gardner Hill Cemetery. Military honors were accorded him, a firing squad from the Service Company of Ridgway in charge of Corporal Derik Metelaki, firing a volley over the grave.
