He was born in Strachbach, Bavaria, Germany, on Saturday, Oct. 11, 1817, and came to St. Marys, July 24, 1845, and was married the same year at St. Marys Church by Rev. Fr. Kander, O.S.B., and his wife, who was born Oct. 11, 1818, still survives him. Four children are living Apploma and Peter Paul, St. Marys; Casper and Frank X. who live in the state of Michigan. Mr. Wegemer was one of the original founders of the St. John's Society, of which but three remain. He was also a member of the St. John's Widows Society. The funeral took place yesterday morning at 9 o'clock from St. Marys church, and the St. John's Society turned out in strong force, and many neighbors and friends marched in the funeral procession. Additional Comments: Johann Wegemer possibly arrived in America on the ship Hanover. According to his obituary, he arrived July 24, 1845. Family information states that his ship took five months to cross the ocean because of a bad storm. He is buried in section 9 B of the St. Marys Catholic Cemetery. No stone or marker on grave.
