  Erie Daily Times - 24 Aug 1908 
  John Mankowski, father of Theodore Mankowski, 547 East 13th Street, died in 
  Harborcreek Township, on August 21.  He was born in Germany in 1844, and came 
  to this country in 1882.  He passed the first five years in Jackson, Michigan 
  and came to Erie in 1887.  In 1892 he moved to Harborcreek where he lived 
  until his death.  His wife, Frances, died about three years ago.  He leaves to 
  mourn his loss, two daughters, Lena and Mary and five sons, John Jr., 
  Theodore, Joseph, Leo, Teofil.  The funeral was held this morning from the 
  residence of his son, Theodore, at 8 oíclock and from St. Stanislaus Church at 
  8:30 oíclock.
