Steuding and son Walter of Weston, Wis., are visiting in Erie, Pa. They attended the wedding of Miss Sadie Fierer (sic) to Mr. Jack (sic) Mannion which occured on Wednesday morning, Nov. 5 in the St. Ames church at Erie, Pa. Additional Comments: Sadie FEIRER: b.June 01, 1894 Eau Claire, Eau Claire, WI; d.October 27, 1966 Aberdeen, Grays Harbor, WA; bu.October 29, 1966 Fern Hill Cemetery, Aberdeen, WA. Parents: Jacob FEIRER and Agnes SCHUSTER. Jake MANNION: b.August 20, 1885 Neenah, Winnebago, WI; d.March 16, 1961 Aberdeen, Grays Harbor, WA; bu.March 18, 1961 Fern Hill Cemetery, Aberdeen, WA. Parents: John MANNION and Bertha HENNING. Sadie was orphaned in 1908 and went to live with her sister and brother-in- law, Marie and Charles STEUDING, in Weston, WI. Jake's brother, Martin MANNION, married Sadie's sister, Matilda "Tillie" FEIRER in 1910 in Eau Claire. There are Eau Claire Leader articles about Sadie visiting Tilly in Erie, PA where Martin and Tillie resided. It is likely that Sadie met Jake through her sister, Tillie. Both Jake and Martin were paper makers and were working in Erie at the time of Jake and Sadie's marriage. Jake and Sadie had six children in Erie (John Redmond, Irene Norberta, Elaine Cecilia, Doris Marie, Rita Margaret, and James Daniel "Danny"). Per Irene's (Sadie's daughter's) hand-written history of the family: "All (of the children) except Danny were born at 1310 E. 8th St., in Erie, PA. They build a three-story brick house at 411 East Ave. in Erie (at the horrendous cost of about $4,000) and Danny was born there." John was sent by the Hammermill Paper Company Grays Harbor County, WA to manage their paper mill there, and the family moved to Aberdeen, WA in 1930. Per Irene's handwritten history: "The parting was a wrenching experience for Sadie and Tillie (I remember lots of screeching and crying). They only met a few more times, when Sadie went back to visit." This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/pafiles/ File size: 2.5 Kb
