He is the son of Herman Fosbrink Sr and Susanah Johnston. John has six brothers and sisters Frank, Samuel, Emma, Robert, Herman Jr., and Sophia. His family moved to Pennsyvania where he met and married Mary Magdalena Grimm in Normalville, Pennsyvania. As a young child he completed his schooling up to the 5th grade. When he met Mary she already had one child Cora A. Lindeman. John and Mary had twelve more children. Susannah, Rosalie, Charles, Harry, Daniel, Gertrude, Samuel, Martha, Mabel, John Irvin, Beatrice, and Donald Sr.. John always had hid children come to dinner each sunday as they started to move away from home. He and his family lived in the Breckneck community where they attended the Breckneck Church of God. John was a hard worker and worked as a saw mill worker and towards the end of his life he worked at a glass factory. He always liked to buy new cars, he bought his last new car in 1928, it was a Chevy. He was very helpful in the community around him ant taught his family to work hard. He bought and owned his own house in the Coonelsville area. His son Charles was a truck driver in the Connelsville area and also his son Daniel worked in the same area as a machine operator. His son Donald worked as a chef in the New York area and his son Harry was killed in action while serving in the military during World War 2. Later in John's life he developed asthma which eventually led to his death. He died in the Connelsville State Hospital on April 13 1956 at 5:55am in the morning after a very exteded illness. At the time of his death he was survived by six children, Daniel, Charles, Donald, Cora, Rose and Beatrice a brother samuel and a sister Emma Frantz and 30 grandchildren and also 32 great grandchildren. A rrangements for his funeral were taken care of by Brooks Funeral Home and the Reverend G. Marion Smith conducted the funeral after which he was buried in the Percy Cemetery on April 16, 1956.
