HAGERTY Deed Book 17, Page 272-273; dated May 11, 1850 This Indenture, made the eleventh day of May in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty, between Henry Slotterback of Washington Township, Fayette County and State of Pennsylvania of the one part and Samuel Hagerty of Perry Township, County and State aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Henry Slotterback for and in consideration of the sum of forty dollars to him in hand paid by the said Samuel J. Hagerty at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents hath granted bargained sold and by those presents doth grant bargain and sell unto the said Samuel J. Hagerty his house and assigns all the stone coal under the surface of a certain lot of land situate in the said Township of Perry on Vanmeters Run. [What follows is the detailed survey description of the property, containing one hundred and twenty square perches1. Named in the information as boundary neighbors are: Peter Vanmeter, and Samuel Browneller] Together with full power and privilege at all times hereafter, to enter the said lot of land on the first mentioned line, for the purpose of digging, mining and excavating and taking away coal from beneath the surface of the said lot. To have and to hold all and singular the privileges hereby granted, with the said Samuel J. Hagerty his heirs and assigns forever. In witness whereof the said grantor hath hereunto set his hand and seal the day appear first above written. Signed, sealed and delivered in the presence of us: ----B. Griffith, Samuel C. Griffith Received on the day of the date of the foregoing indenture from the within named Samuel J. Hagerty the sum of forth dollars being the full consideration money within mentioned.
