Deed dated January 14, 1837 conveying land situate in Springhill Township. This Indenture made the fourteenth day of Januray in the year of Our Lord One thousand eight hundred and thirty seven, between George Harden and Andrew Oliphant Each of the county of Fayette and Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Witnesseth that the said George Harden for and in consideration of the sum of fourteen hundred and sixty three dollars to him in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath garnted bargained and sold and by these presebts doth grant bargain and sell unto the said Andrew Oliphant a certain piece or parcel of land lying and being in the Township of Springhill County and Commonwealth aforesaid on Georges Creek being part of a larger tract granted by the Commonwealth aforesaid by patent dated 23 of March 1836 to the said George Harden and bounded as follows. Beginning at a white oak on the South bank of Georges Creek thence running North twelve degrees East twelve and seven tenths perches to a white Oak Stump, thence North twenty five and three fourths degrees East forty four and one tenth perches to a dogwood in the hallow, thence North fifty and a half degrees East twelve and seven tenths perches to a stone by Griffins line thence North forty two degrees East sixty eight and seven tenths perches to a Stone, thence North thirty six and a half degrees West ninety nine and eight tenths perches to a white oak across the creek by Sackette line, thence South sixty nine and a half degrees West eighty four and four tenths perches to a white oak Stump, thence south fifty three and an half degrees West sixty one and five tenths perches to by a white oak, thence south fourteen and one eighth degree West ninety two and four tenths perches to the Creek at the fording, Thence North eighty seven and three fourths degrees East seventy nine and two tenths perches to the beginning. Containing one hundred and eighteen and an half acres strict measure. To Have and to Hold the piece or parcel of land Hereby granted unto him the said Andrew Oliphant his heirs and assigns in fee simple forever. And the said George Hardin for hiself and his heirs doth hereby covenant to and with the said Andrew Oliphant that he will forever warrant and defend all his right title and claim in and to the afore described parcel of land against all persons claiming by through or under him. In testimony whereof the said George Hardin hath hereto set his hand the day and year before written. January 1837 In presence of F. Lewis George Harden (SS) E. Douglass, Fayette County Ss. Before the subscriber one of the Justices of the Peace in and for the County of Fayette aforesaid, personally came the within named George Harden who does acknowledge the foregoing Indenture to be his act and deed and as such desires the same may be recorded.
